I walk for an hour every morning before I have to feed my sister. I try to be in each step in that moment and not think ahead. Concentrating on breathing and the nature around me. A good mental and physical exercise to start my day.

Yes, and some of the walks were very difficult and dangerous.

Laurie, this is a lovely short essay. Obviously I have a leg in the game, as we've taken many good walks together. But the tone and the topic seemed well-suited, and you really seemed to explore the topic, as you explore the ground you're walking on. As I say, lovely!
